Please
send your flute prayers to the folks at Stellar Flutes. They
had a nasty storm on the 14th of December were hit hard by falling trees due to
severe wind storms up in Shelton, WA. While
they slept peacefully down below in our residential building, the
office/shop building and our two cars sustained sever damage. The
135’ x 24” tree which was near the road hit the bathroom part of the
building. The top 35’of the tree broke off and crashed between
the two buildings. They are still able to use all the facilities
but are at the mercy of tarps until they can find someone to repair the
poor building. The bathroom is a train wreck but is still
functional as a bathroom. Their residence was not harmed. Everyone is safe; however, the shop
and two vehicles were damaged. Despite the damages the shop is
functional.

| It is with sadness that we hear of the death of Chief
Klia, hereditary Chief of the Hoh Tribe. Chief Klia died on
Wednesday, December 27, 2006 due to injuries sustained in a car
collision on Saturday, December 24th. Chief Klia served on the
Hoh Tribal Council for many years and presided at numerous tribal
events, including the August 2002 potlatch during the Tribal Paddle
Journey, when as many as 45 tribal canoes visited the Hoh
Reservation. Chief Klia loved to carve canoes and taught many
people of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe how to handle a canoe. Several
of our Flute Circle members knew Chief Klia and were involved in paddle
journeys. Chief Klia was also involved in health education and
health fairs for the Hoh Tribe. Please send your flute prayers to
his family and Tribe. |
